What is a Haunted House?

A haunted house is a place where paranormal activity occurs. The feeling of being watched, a strange noise or a cold breeze are just some of the things that can happen when a house is haunted. Most ghosts are benevolent but there are also malevolent spirits like the ones in the movie Ghostbusters and poltergeists that want to scare you or cause physical harm.

Many people enjoy visiting haunted houses and theme parks because they get a rush when they experience fear. This is due to a biochemical response in the brain that makes us feel alive. This feeling is one of the most basic human emotions and it is what allows us to survive.

Hauntings usually occur in places where a radical change is happening. For example, it is often the case that a former home of a deceased person is haunted by their spirit. This is especially true if the death occurred violently or in an unexpected way. In addition, the ghosts can be a reminder of a past that was unresolved and unsatisfactory.

When the feeling of being haunted by a ghost becomes too great, it may be time to contact a psychic medium. Then, a ghost investigator can take a closer look at the area to see what is causing the haunting.

A typical haunting will include sounds like footsteps, doors slamming and voices. However, these sounds can sometimes be caused by a neighbor’s kids or even the wind. Odd smells such as rotting flesh or sulfuric acid are associated with demonic hauntings. In more negative cases, a ghost can try to make physical contact with its victims by tugging at the hair or touch on the shoulder and in extreme circumstances – punching, shoving or scratching.
