Signs of a Haunted Home

We’ve heard plenty of stories about haunted houses, hotels and other spooky destinations where people can get a chill as they walk a dark hallway. From the Winchester Mystery House in California to the eerie Gettysburg battlefield, paranormal-seekers flock to these locales to try to catch a glimpse of a spirit or just feel a creepy vibe.

Whether you believe in the supernatural or not, it’s possible that your home could be haunted, especially if it was built on a cemetery or near where a murder occurred, according to real estate experts. But before you call the ghost hunters, look for signs of paranormal activity in your home that can help you determine if a poltergeist is stalking you.

The first sign of a haunting is a presence in the home that’s undetected by others. This might include seeing shadows that look like someone walking around, hearing voices or sounds of a person moving in the house or feeling like you’re being watched. These phenomena are often more apparent at night, when most people are more prone to being spooked.

Other signs of a haunting may involve physical sensations, such as a cold spot or a feeling that you’re being touched by an unseen force. You might also notice that lights are turning off and on or that your electronics seem to be zapped of energy, Moon says. If you experience these things, it’s a good idea to lay down ground rules with the ghost or spirits that inhabit your home, just as you would with a disruptive houseguest.
