A haunting is when you experience supernatural activities in a home or building. Typically, these spirits are lost or have unfinished business (like a desire to avenge a death).
Many people first experience the signs of a haunting when moving into a new home or apartment. Bumps in the night, furniture moving and hearing voices are common symptoms.
Other signs include smelling unusual odors, such as old-fashioned perfume, cigar smoke, pipe smoke or cologne. The smells can also linger in the air for a long time. Other sounds that can manifest are low moaning, crying sounds and talking like you are listening to a radio or television. Levitating objects are also a sign of a haunting, as is seeing a human formed apparition that may be misty or transparent. Seeing brightly colored orbs (blue orbs are Spirits) can also be evidence of the presence of ghosts.
If you are experiencing these signs, it is important to document your experiences. Write down what you have experienced and take photos of any unexplained events. It is also helpful to speak with your neighbors and find out about the history of the property.
If you are concerned about a possible ghost, it is important to remember that they are usually not as malevolent as Hollywood movies or horror stories suggest. They are simply looking for a safe place to stay and often just want to be remembered. If you offer them love, light and a sense of joy they will usually move on to better energies.
