For centuries, ghosts have captivated us with tales of restless spirits. Some of them serve as warnings, urging people to stay away from certain locations or lifestyle choices. Others are a source of comfort and hope, reminding us that our loved ones who have passed on are always close by.
Whether you’re a spiritual skeptic or believer, there are many signs that your house might be haunted. These include feeling like you are being watched, unexplained chills, sudden bursts of heat or cold, the sensation that a hand or something is touching you, and the eerie feel of a presence. Other indications are the drained batteries in your electronic devices, a feeling of being pushed or prodded and unexplained scratches. Some unexplained odours can also be indicative of a ghost, as can the appearance of flickering lights or the feeling that you are being followed.
Ghosts are usually thought to be the lingering negative energy from past traumas or accidents that never crossed over into the afterlife. These are called residual hauntings and can be manifested as apparitions that appear in the same location and repeat the same action over and over, much like a movie playing on repeat. These types of hauntings can cause fear, anxiety and stress.
Some other signs of a haunting are irritability, shortness of breath while sleeping and a general low mood in the household. However, if these symptoms are constant and long-lasting, it could be a sign of mental health issues like depression or PTSD and should be checked out by a professional before attributing them to ghosts.
